About this deal

I will include both recipes you can use to make your own dinosaur dig kit (plus pros and cons!) below but my consensus was that they both look and feel about the same in the end. My son had a Fossil / Dinosaur Birthday Party and I made these DIY dinosaur dig kits to send home with the kids as party favors! They were incredibly easy to make and I want to show you how to make your own dinosaur egg dig tutorial.

The requirement calls from the Scout to excavate a dinosaur dig that was made by another member of the den. If you want to ensure that no one gets their own dig, have the Scouts write their names on some masking tape and put it on the container. Or you can just randomly hand out the digs. Digging for Dinosaur Bones I left my dig sitting for a bit longer than I should, so I got a little mold on the top! This is going to get messy. Corn starch dust will be everywhere. I highly recommend that you do this outside. Picnic tables are perfect to work on if you have access to a place with them. Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. If the eggs are soft inside (about 1 week later) the kids should be able to just break them open with their hands. A great idea for younger kids!

The mixture with more sand added will be easier for younger kids to dig through. The recipe with more plaster of Paris is great for older kids and takes a little longer to work through. This was perfect for my kids (8 and 10). Use an inexpensive or disposable bowl to mix the sand and plaster of Paris together. Add water and stir until evenly mixed.Dig it out kits are a great way for kids to learn while having fun and making a mess. Each kit comes with everything you need to find the treasure inside. Dinosaur and Fossil adventures in a bag - a hand made jungle camouflage bag with prehistoric activities, personalisation available Our range of wholesale excavation kits and educational toys and puzzles cover a great range of toys that will keep kids busy for hours. I didn't have enough, but it was a lot easier to stop at the dollar store or grocery store to buy corn starch instead of heading to the craft store or Home Depot for Plaster of Paris. And it's cheaper too. Supplies for DIY Dinosaur Dig Activity Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Dinosaur Dig Kit - Cub Scout Ideas How to Make a DIY Dinosaur Dig Kit - Cub Scout Ideas

My son turned 8 this summer and he asked for a dinosaur birthday party theme. We had so much fun planning dinosaur crafts, recipes, and party decorations. The inspiration for the party favors came from my son buying one of those excavation kits at the store. It looked pretty simple to make, with endless possibilities to personalize it with an assortment of toys and gems inside. Mix all of the dry ingredients together and then add 1/4 cup water at a time. DIY DINO DIG RECIPE 2: Bury the dinosaurs in the mixture so that you can’t see them. You'll need to push them down into the corn starch mixture. We've had this hammer for a while. One of my boys got it when they attended one of the Lowe's workshops for kids. Unfortunately, it looks like Lowe's has discontinued this program.Carefully turn the container upside down onto the work surface. Remove the container, and your dig should slide right out. Every child will just LOVE this dinosaur dig and it was incredibly simple to make!! Not to mention that other than the toy dinos we had everything we needed at home!! Fold a paper box insert on the perforated lines and place inside a clear bag; add paper shreds. I found them at the craft store in the gift-wrapping section. Notes on supplies: I used a deep dish-type disposable aluminum pie plate for the activity. These types of containers would work well too.
