About this deal
Despite the heavy topics surrounding the plot and were discussed, it was still a heartfelt and loving story.
She was dating Chance who she felt was in love with her but apparently, the love they had was not enough for him to protect her.
Ava was trying to remember what happened that night and figure out how to support her special needs brother with no parents. If you’re looking for a NA romance that has a great enemies to lovers aspect with a strong heroine and a grumpy but soft hero, this is the book for you! Learning their mother’s story was heartbreaking, and then knowing how she had been the cause of Knox’s scar and what she said about him being ugly – again I was just gutted. This book was too profound, so beautiful and with so many important messages, that I wouldn't know where to start describing it! The mysterious person wasn’t just an ally, but according to the letter he was a fellow Shark, someone on the football.
Diving into the book you start with Ava waking up in a foggy state of mind, and not knowing why she’s laying in some long grass by some woods she was previously partying in with her high school chums.
After reading the blurb I was excited to get a bully romance with a secret admirer and was so ready for all that angst. So, yes, this had the element of Knox going after his best friend’s ex, an ex Chance was supposedly in love with, but I just didn’t care. Knox was the more mysterious character but I loved getting to dig into him and his past and learn all about it.
